Warranty Information
Due to the nature of our product we offer a limited warranty on Salty Grips.
Salty Grips are handmade in Portugal from the bark of cork oak trees. Each grip is made by shaping rods of combined cork rings and each contains a portion of filling material added to create a smooth surface. After leaving Europe, every Salty Grip is cleaned, sealed, and engraved by hand in Richmond, Virginia. During each of these processes, we carefully evaluate the structural soundness and surface condition of the grips to ensure each is ready for sale. Rarely, a grip has an issue and is never sold.
Salty Grips are incredibly strong and durable once supported by the putter shaft. However, prior to installation they’re rigid and, like sunglasses and other cork products, can be easily broken if handled carelessly. Accordingly, we recommend keeping the grip in its packaging tube until its ready for use. We also strongly suggest that all Salty Grips be installed by an experienced member of the golf industry — a retailer, PGA professional or club maker. If a Salty Grip cracks during installation by one of these individuals and the break appears to be the result of a structural flaw, we are happy to replace it. In such case, please email us at info@saltygrips.com with the installer’s contact information and best way to reach you. Thanks.

Salty Grips Installation
*Please read the below instructions from beginning to end – like our grips, our installation is unique. Thank you in advance!
*Salty Grips should be installed by an experienced member of the golf industry – a retailer, PGA professional, or club fitter – using a stabilized gripping station. Although incredibly durable once supported by the putter shaft, cork grips are fragile and easily broken if handled carelessly.
*Salty Grip dimensions
- - weight - 42 grams (+/- 2 grams)
- - length - 10.5"
- - core diameter of cork body - 0.62"
- - core diameter of rubber tip - 0.54"
Step by Step Instructions
| Step 1 |
Start with a clean putter shaft - remove existing grip and ALL tape before installing your Salty Grip |
| Step 2 |
Determine the putter shaft butt diameter - 0.58" and smaller (most putters) OR 0.60" |
| Step 3 |
| Apply grip tape as follows: |
| a. 0.58" diameter shafts: |
| 1. |
apply two wraps of tape that leave the last half inch of the butt end of the shaft exposed |
| 2. |
apply an additional wrap of tape on the bottom half (low hand) of the gripping area - this will ensure a snug fit as the shaft tapers (the core diameter of the cork body does not taper) |
| 3. |
apply a final wrap of tape that covers the entire gripping area, twist the excess tape at the butt end and push it down into the shaft cavity |
| b. 0.60" diameter shafts: |
| 1. |
apply one wrap of tape on the bottom half (low hand) of the gripping area - this will ensure a snug fit as the shaft tapers (the core diameter of the cork body does not taper) |
| 2. |
apply one wrap of tape that covers the entire gripping area, twist the excess tape at the butt end and push it down into the shaft cavity |
|
| Step 4 |
Spray or squirt grip solvent onto the taped shaft - DO NOT pour solvent into the grip - it is unnecessary |
| Step 5 |
Massage the rubber tip into an oval shape and insert the butt end of the shaft - the rubber tip is firm, yet elastic enough to accommodate the putter shaft |
| Step 6 |
Very slowly slide the grip down the shaft, being sure to support the butt end with the palm of your hand – DO NOT slam the grip down the shaft – too much force can rupture the butt cap (it’s attached with a very strong epoxy, but was once a separate piece from the cork body of the grip) |
| Step 7 |
Align the grip as necessary and allow it to set overnight before use |
| Step 8 |
Adjust and refresh the natural feel of your grip with 150-200 grit sandpaper (150 for more texture, 200 for less) |
Please don’t hesitate to call 804.201.6205 with questions before or during installation - it's very important to us that our grips are installed correctly and enjoyed thoroughly by our customers. We're always available to ensure that's the case.
